After a lot of drama, finally, the day has come. My friends and I could invite special guests to our community special program in Ramadhan.
Around 11.30 PM., we welcomed our Palestinian brother with his friend who just gave preach in Magelang. They were Abdullah and Wildan. Before he went to sleep, we did chit-chat a few minutes. I was a little bit wonder, It was my first time to meet him, but the freeze just broke directly. We could do some jokes.
This story still continued...
At 2.55 AM, he has already woke up and come to me and eat suhoor together.
“How is your sleep?” I asked to him.
“Good.” Answered by him.
I asked him casually, what did he do before sleeping. Then, he answered by hinting takbir movement in prayer. That meant he only sleeps just an hour. From 2 to almost 3 A.M. Unbelievable! He ought to be tired because has a crowded journey agenda.
At the dining table, we chatted a lot with him. We shared the story about our nation, daily life, and many more. I enjoyed this moment. Because I could practice my Arabic and English. After that, we prepared to go Masjid NH Kaplingan. He has a schedule to give preach there.
I was grateful and happy. The congregation has filled the building, even they poured out until outside. Alhamdulillah.. from this, we collected a lot of donation to Palestinian needs.
At 7.00 AM, we had an informal sharing session. Now, he gathered with friends community (ASPAL) at UNS lake. Again, he shared his stories. He told us that he had already tried many times to exit Gaza to continue magister study. He waited for it for 7 years to get out. Too long indeed. I can say that it was an extraordinary struggle. Now, he is finishing his Ph.D. program for Islamic economy at IIUM. He also gave us some bits of advice. And I want to make a summary for you:
1. According to him, At least, finish Ph.D. (I recognized it’s not easy. But, let’s see).
2. Focus on the study. Having specialization.
3. Learn English well. Because it’s a world language who will connect the people.
4. Be a good leader. Lead the ummah.
5. Build a network with high-class people to serve a lot of people, not to for personal gain.
6. Give a positive impact to society and get involved with the social affair, not only for Palestinian.
Finally, at 9.00 AM, I accompanied them to the airport. He ought to go back to Malaysia today. I learned a lot from this guy. He is friendly, cool, humble, and smart.
Thank you for the quality of 10 hours!
May Allah bless you. Hope to see you in Quds, the Capital of Palestine someday. Insha Allah.
